Shock disinfection of showers in a sports center

Legionella prevention in swimming pool

Solving legionella problem by shock disinfection

Legionella prevention in swimming pool

In the event of a temporary closure or reduced use of sports complexes, showers are used less. Not using the sanitary installations results in stagnant water and the warming up of the cold water. Both of these factors promote development of Legionella in the water tubes.

Regular flushing of the entire water system is often insufficient to avoid a Legionella contamination. A shock treatment (disinfection) is then required to tackle the problem at the root. With a shock disinfection, a "microbial reset" of the entire water network is achieved in very a short time (the entire procedure takes only one day).

During this procedure, our technical team, treats the water lines with an increased concentration of Diox Forte using a mobile dosing unit. The concentration of the disinfectant is continuously monitored. After our validated protocol is completed, the entire system is flushed out with clean drinking water. When leaving the building, our technical manager guarantees that the treated water systems and water, meet drinking water quality standards.

If a recontamination recurs after several months and the sanitary installation cannot be adapted sufficiently from a technical point of view (e.g. by removing dead legs from water pipes), the Konax Easydis unit offers a solution. The Konax Easydis unit is a fully automatic legionella prevention and treatment system with on-line and real-time monitoring.  Konax Easydis is recognized by (Belgian) authorities as an alternative control measure within the framework of the Legionella management plan.
